Watch The Water...
There were a couple stories over the weekend, and some excellent resources from FReeQs that I will address in this update. LucyT directed us to this Daily Mail story from July 2018 talking about Clare Bronfman's island in Fiji. She owns about 80% of the island of Wakaya. It looks pretty nice in the pictures. This is the one I mentioned briefly previously that might get Raniere in more trouble - he owns about one third of that 80%. A fact he neglected to mention to the Feds when he filed his assets-owned paperwork when asking for bail last year. The island was also a topic of Mark Vicente's testimony last week.
While On The Subject...
Since we talking about properties, TheTexasMom gave us a two-part special on the Upstate NY properties associated with NXIVM. Her first part was here and the second part here. One of the very interesting nuggets is that Clare Bronfman and Pam Caffritz are joint owners of one of the houses. Pam Caffritz died from (untreated by Keith) cancer in November 2016. Although her twitter account is still up. Ms. Caffritz was the lady who NXIVM kept using her credit cards after she passed away, and is the source of most of the identity-theft-related predicate acts the prosecution is using to establish the racketeering conspiracy. Raniere's name doesn't appear on any NXIVM business or real estate related documents. Except for the island in Fiji. I wonder how that happened?
First-Line Slaves...
In Lauren Salzman's testimony on Friday, the government introduced some photos of cult insiders and discussed their relationships with Keith Raniere. The first photo showed the 'first-line' slaves. These were Raniere's slaves and they called him 'master'. First-line slaves kept their own slaves, who called Raniere the 'grandmaster'. Let's take a look at who these women are.
For ease of reference, Frank Parlato has given us a list of presumed DOS slaves here. I'll cross reference his numbers with the list below.
Starting at the 12 o'clock position and working clockwise, is Camila Fernandez (#20). She is Mexican and was the girl Raniere might have been having sex with at 13 yo, and is the one in the child porn evidence photos. She lived in Clifton Park for years but has gone back to Mexico. She will not testify for the prosecution and is 26 years old now.
Daniella Padilla (#9). An original DOS slave/member, has her own slaves. Still loyal to Raniere.
Nicki Clyne (#3). Actress (Cally in Battlestar Gallactica remake). Avid recruiter for DOS, has her own slaves. The only person who recruited more is Allison Mack (who recruited Nicki). Still loyal to Raniere. She is Canadian and in a sham lesbian marriage with Allison Mack to stay in the U.S. Radar Online has a story out today saying that Clyne is back in upstate NY. Based on what the neighbors say, it sure looks like DOS is still intact in Clifton Park.
Loretta Garza (#6). Original DOS member. Probably still loyal to Raniere.
Rosa Laura Junco (#2). Original DOS member from Mexico. Daughter of famous publisher Alejandro Junco. Married and a loyal slave of Keith's.
Monica Duran (#5). Friend of Clare Bronfman, DOS slave. Has her own slaves.
Allison Mack (#1). Former actress, top DOS recruiter, slave of Raniere, 'married' to Nicki Clyne. Pled guilty and I think acted her way through the allocution.
Lauren Salzman (#7). Daughter of Nancy Salzman. DOS member, slave of both Allison Mack and Keith Raniere. Pled guilty and is now witness for the prosecution. She testified last week.
Chicos Y Chicas....
Melian connected some dots for us on her post at #705. Last week we heard that Emiliano Salinas (son of former Mexican president Carlos Salinas) is considered by the government to be a "criminal co-conspirator" with Raniere. Guess what? Another Mexican cult member is daughter of former Mexican President Vicente Fox, Ana Cristina. Lots of elite from U.S., Canada and Mexico in this outfit! Also, after last week's news on Emiliano, LOTs of Spanish Language media outlets are running with that story. Just not in the U.S.
Inner Circle...
The prosecution also submitted this photo of Raniere's inner circle as evidence. These are not the DOS slaves, but they are pretty much Raniere's council of chief followers (although some are in DOS as well).
Herbits....
Steven Herbits, a long-time and very close advisor to Edgar Bronfman Sr. testified for the government today. Herbits is a lawyer for the rich and powerful. Edgar was Sara and Clare's father. He passed away in December 2013. Frank Report posted long excerpts from his testimony here.
Rulings...
The judge ruled against last week's request by Kathy Russell to meet Nancy Salzman socially and without lawyers present. Judge Garaufis also approved Clare to pay her $6 million fine out of her trust.
