Volkswagen has crunched the numbers to show electric cars produce lower CO2 emissions than petrol- or diesel-engined models, for the entire lifespan of the vehicle.
While it may be clear that an electric car produces no direct CO2 emissions when driving, Volkswagen has demonstrated the wider savings through use of a ‘certified life cycle assessment’ process.
The company has taken the all-electric e-Golf, and the traditional diesel-engined Golf TDI, to demonstrate just how substantial the differences can be over the whole life of a car.

Where I live, every electric car should have a bumper sticker that says, “Powered by coal”.

That only seems to be a graphic reinforcing their claim, not data to support it.
If it turned out tomorrow that NASA and the UN declared that we were heading into a massive global cooling cycle and that we needed to start emitting green house gasses into the atmosphere on a large scale to mitigate global heat loss, THE LAST THING WE WOULD INVEST MONEY INTO EMITTING IS CO2, because science already knows that it’s has low levels of green house effect and the environment and biome readily absorb and consume it!
So who the hell cares what the ‘carbon footprint’ is of anything!??
