Volkswagen has crunched the numbers to show electric cars produce lower CO2 emissions than petrol- or diesel-engined models, for the entire lifespan of the vehicle.
While it may be clear that an electric car produces no direct CO2 emissions when driving, Volkswagen has demonstrated the wider savings through use of a certified life cycle assessment process.
The company has taken the all-electric e-Golf, and the traditional diesel-engined Golf TDI, to demonstrate just how substantial the differences can be over the whole life of a car.

I checked the link and all I saw was the CO2 calculator. I tried working with the calculator and got no where. The article was rather brief and it did not say anything about the CO2 generated from a coal fired electric power plant necessary for the electricity needed to recharge a battery for one complete charge cycle. If you saw that information, could you please provide it?

Electric cars DO have a smaller carbon footprint...
They say that like its a GOOD thing.
I have been surprised at how vociferous and deeply concerned so many rock rib conservatives are about the power source for transportation!
Also many are distressed about the source of the rare-earth elements used in permanent magnets and the trivial details of battery manufacturing.
Yet no worries about the proper disposal of sodium azide or used engine oil?
I think it might be Ruskie mind control?
“A Tesla Model 3 battery, for example, represents between 11 and 15 tonnes of CO2. Given a lifetime of 10 years and an annual travel distance of 15,000 kilometres, this translates into 73 to 98 grams of CO2 per kilometre, scientists Christoph Buchal, Hans-Dieter Karl and Hans-Werner Sinn noted in their study.”
Total bunk. The battery warranty is longer than that. Besides, the battery is recycled so the math is wrong.
“Great post with valuable information. “
Totally debunked study.
and? I have a 67’ Stingray which can do that too. Add 2016 Corvette to that too ( I got that after CBS renewed our show) ..
” 67 Stingray “
Two errors in the above. Can you find them?
“ZERO to SIXTY in 2.8 seconds in a sedan is not an ‘appliance’! “
You do that all the live long day and your CO2 gm/km stats are gonna suck.
No. How about the fag who kept harping about his electric appliance?
So going back to my original question: only homosexuals and libs drive these electric golf carts, which are you?
Already answered. And now you know that you have a Sting Ray, not a Stingray.
No you didnt answer it. A few of my friends also said that electric car drivers are idiots, morons and imbeciles.
I found my answer: “By comparison the e-Golf will average 62g/km across the use and charging stage of its life. Those emissions are the result of energy being generated from the power grid to recharge the e-Golfs battery pack.”
Thank you.
Electrical? Coal fired cars.
“No you didnt answer it.”
Yes I did.
“A few of my friends also said that electric car drivers are idiots, morons and imbeciles.”
I bet they believed you when you said you had a ‘67 Stingray ...
One of them rode on it actually. At least they were not riding in a homosexual electric appliance ..
“One of them rode on it actually. “
Dude, there is no 1967 Stingray. It is Sting Ray.
They changed it when they went to the C3 in 1968 to Stingray.
