We have come across what appears to be a manifesto for the Poway synagogue shooter. He identifies as an anon from 8chan's /pol/ board. He claims he was inspired by the Christchurch shooting. His manifesto is filled with sh*tposting and should not be taken literally.
And now we know what's really up here.
#WhenShillsAttack
What a strange twist! Keith Raniere's lawyer, Marc Agnifilio, says the defense will call no witnesses and Vanguard himself will NOT testify. What will the defense do? Opening and closing statements, and cross-examine the prosecution's witnesses. It means they will not be defending Raniere so much as tearing down prosecution witnesses. "It's a bold strategy, Cotton. We'll see how it pans out!" (Dodgeball)
Tony Ortega reports over at The Underground Bunker that Agnifilio is also asking the court to name ALL prosecution witnesses. He argues that Raniere is no threat to anyone. This, after he, Clare Bronfman, and others spent decades and tens of millions of dollars to conduct "Lawfare" against their adversaries in order to destroy them personally and professionally.
I can't imagine the judge believing that Raniere poses no risk to anyone. The prosecution wants to shield the identities of some of their witnesses through nicknames or abbreviated names. The other quirk is that Raniere no doubt knows who these witnesses are. The nicknaming only serves to protect them in the press and courtroom.
The judge will need to rule on this motion, and several others before the start of the trial on May 7th.
Here are the pending decisions.
o Out of 55 candidate jurors, on May 6, the judge and lawyers will reduce that down to 12 jurors and 6 alternates. The defense can exclude up to 10, and the prosecution up to 6.
o Can the dirty pictures taken and kept by Raniere of a then-15 year old girl be admissible?
o Will witnesses be able to use a nickname or pseudonym, or must they divulge their real, full, names?
o Is the NXIVM organization still a viable business that retains attorney-client privilage?
o Will a then-12 year old girl (now adult) be allowed to testify that Raniere raped her repeatedly in the 1990s?
o Will defense lawyers be allowed to have Mexican nationals testify via closed circuit TV? [note - this motion should be moot now that we know the defense will call no witnesses]
o Will the prosecution be allowed to put some witnesses on the stand, even though they declared them as witnesses after the court deadline to do so?
