When Chrysler went through restructuring, they eliminated as many GOP supporting dealers as possible.

Thought that that was GM that did that.

IIRC, the GM situation was such that the more direct FedGov/union intervention and $$$ issues provided a better opportunity to axe dealerships on a "business" basis rather than a political one. In these parts, the smaller, stand-alone GM dealerships got screwed, leaving the area with only multi/mega-dealership outfits... similar to what one of the major agricultural outfits has done nationwide (they don't want to deal with small players anymore).

The cabal always has different ways to break eggs for the omelets they are making.
