Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg says President Donald Trump is kind of like a Chinese finger trap you know, the harder you pull, the more you get stuck and warns that Democrats shouldnt get bogged down in trying to knock him flat with some zinger. [ ]
Weve got to acknowledge without giving an inch on the racism or xenophobia that played a role in that campaign weve got to also pay attention to the things that make people susceptible to that message and make sure were addressing them, said the mayor of South Bend, Indiana. [ ]
By far the political movement that is most based on identity politics is Trumpism. Its based on white guy identity politics. It uses race to divide the working and middle class, he told the AP. There are a lot of strategies to blame problems on people who look different or are of a different faith or even of a different sexuality or gender identity. Its a cynical political strategy that works in the short term but winds up weakening the whole country in the long term.
Buttigieg has argued that hes uniquely positioned to take on Trump because he can appeal to the white working class voters who left the Democratic Party for the Republican. But in recent days, hes acknowledged he needs to address the lack of racial diversity among supporters at his events.

“”that played a role in that campaign””
Good grief - he was elected president, wasn’t he? The voters who put him in office didn’t hang onto “racism and xenophobia” but these people can’t let go of something that they criticized him for 3-4 years ago...
He didn’t want to let a bunch of uncivilized people (muslims) into our country - OH! NO! Illegals are undesirable because of their criminal backgrounds etc., - OH! NO!
There is so much that can be touted about/against ANY of the demo-rats running for president in 2020, the racism and xenophobia labels will count for nothing...It would take from now until the election in 2020 to recount all the foibles of those running.
MOVE ON!!!!
Yeah, but they’re lying. Trump’s campaign was actually devoid of racism and/or xenophobia, and the matters relating to keeping terrorists and illegals out are proof of that rather than proof of their claims.
Weve got to acknowledge without giving an inch on the racism or xenophobia that played a role in that campaign weve got to also pay attention to the things that make people susceptible to that message and make sure were addressing them, said the mayor of South Bend, Indiana.
And for our part we need to fight this guy on the level of ideas...not just tactics... because our ideas are better and his will lead to a Venezuelan hellhole...
Thanks - see reply #44
Trump does express the ideas quite articulately and even exuberantly, but the lies of the left continue to increase in bluster.
The mainstream media, basically. They print every schmucks quotes where the President is called a racist. The media should be held responsible for it.
If someone they like, say, Eric Holder, had been called a racist for his policies at Justice, they would have formed their articles around refuting such quotes. Instead, the media just walk around their own printed quotes calling Trump racist (daily). He said it, not us.
And the media is thought of as The Voice of Gd by most. Including old time radio hosts who use it as show prep and quote mainstream media constantly. While their hot outrage is mostly ignored, the media quotes become cemented into the public mind.
I assume he zings Pence because he’s getting very loud messages from G-d that he’s commiting an abomination.
Does his church use a true bible, or one that rewords sins to deny their sinfulness?
Instead get bogged down zinging Pence.
