This quotefall puzzle subject is from noted author Matt Bracken, and the quote is taken from his "The Reconquista." It is one of the more difficult puzzles, so I have added three hint words below the puzzle. Click to show full-sized image for print. Enjoy!
These three words (upside-down) are part of the answer:
ǝןdoǝd ʎןןɐɹnʇɐu ʇuǝɯǝʌoɯ
Ping.
When I was young, I loved solving brain teasers etc.
Now, I wouldn’t even try.
Nice, pretty easy, I didn’t need any clues. Keep ‘em coming, thanks!
I figure TM (MB) may or may not care. But the quote stuck with me when I first read the book
I don’t even know this type of crossword. I’ll figure it out....
I did too and sent away for paper backs on puzzles and codes and stuff like that.
I think we've lost our attention span in our elder years because I can't even spend more than 5 minutes on a crossword puzzle before I say screw it.......LOL!
To solve the puzzle, select the letters in the top part of the puzzle and enter them into white squares in the grid below within the same column. All letters are used only once, and must go into the grid.

Around 1970, I met and almost got married to a really cute girl. I still think she was the best person I ever dated even nicer than my wife.
In early Sept. I drove to Texas to be with her for a weekend. Her Father was a brilliant chemist, one who had patents for things which one would recognize immediately. He was also a devoted Christian.
That Saturday when I got up, he was sitting at a table doing brain teasers. He invited me to do some with him. I was really hot that day and figured out every one of them.
The next day his Daughter told me that he had pointed up to the bedroom where I was asleep and told her. “That is the best one yet”. I suspect my performance on the brain teasers had made a good impression.
Unfortunately, my wife likes my marksmanship skills more than puzzle-making abilities. Go figure.
Unfortunately?????
(That was sarcasm ;) )
I got it ;)
It only took me a week, but I solved it.
I printed it out the first day without any clues, and finally I sat down to figure it out.
Thanks, your puzzle really brightened my day.
You’re welcome. I now automate the process and include instructions, hints, and a link to a tutorial on how to do the puzzles for each submission (one a day, may do two a day if management ok’s it). I will definitely highlight more quotes from your content at a future time.
Keyword search “quotefall” should highlight latest puzzles. I look forward to more of your books, as well as your guest spot on IW!
Thanks for the personalized Quotefall, I had never even heard of the genre before seeing this post. I think it’s a great idea to post one a day here. Include me on your ping list and we’ll stir the pot.
