The “obvious answer” is that people who study hard get ahead in school, no matter where they start out.
Some people choose to focus heavily on their studies. They tend to do well in school.
Some people choose to work hard at their jobs. They tend to do well at work.
Some people choose to focus more on having fun in life. They tend to have a lot of fun.
Most of us are a combination of the three.
But it’s all about the choices we make.
That is one of the “racist” answers that I was referring to. How dare you imply that groups of children are failing to perform because they come from a cultures that do not encourage hard work and commitment. /s
Great post.
Today there are no more excuses. Even in the worst urban schools a student can study on their own time using the Internet in the public library (if the school library is unsafe).
If they want to learn they can learn—about anything.
If they don’t want to learn they will learn nothing about nothing.
The learners may have to keep it a secret—don’t want to be caught “acting white”.
