(Barr Senate testimony - paraphrasing) Roughly 11:35am EDT
Lindsey Graham: if the DOJ discovers a foreign power spying on a politician, don’t they brief the person on the threat? Like with the chinese guy working for Feinstein, didn’t the DOJ brief her? Then she took action and fired him, right?
Barr: Yes, if there was a foreign spy we would brief the target.
Graham: but that didn’t happen with the Trump campaign?
Barr: (unk)
Passes to some commie, who immediately wanted to redefine ‘spying’ because he thought it was too inflammatory.
Barr concedes that he could also say “unauthorized surveillance” and it would mean the same thing.
Interesting but brief discussion. I wish I had paid more attention. Others may have caught more detail.
Just about to post that,
And the two other relevant questions:
Not word for word....
Graham: Do you agree that every American should be concerned that a warrant was obtained to begin an investigation with unverified information?
Barr: yes absolutely
Graham: so you are looking at that?
Barr: Yes
Graham: do you share my concern that if a counterintelligence investigation was begun against a presidential candidate you would need to have a very good reason?
Barr: yes absolutely
Graham: and a counterintelligence investigation is normally started to protect the target from foreign influence correct?
Barr: yes
Graham: so it’s not a prosecutorial function is it?
Barr: no
