Yes, they thrive here in the Waco area...and my niece said the roadsides were beautiful coming from Austin, where she lives.

I grew up near Fort Parker State Park and they are wonderful there, too.(about 50 miles east of Waco.)

Makes for a lovely drive! I don’t think I’ve ever been to Parker State Park.
