In the morning when I show up, she sits with her coffee, entranced in front of the TV, dutifully watching the news.

Not knowing her situation this may be her “company”. Is there a conservative radio show you could plug her into? Sometimes it is just the habit of hearing the familiar each day.

Is the familiar habit or comfort or a comfortable habit?

I recall Good Morning America back in the 70’s with David Hartman. It was a show that, no matter where my travels found me, I was brought home each morning by GMA. It was a very down home show back in the day and I found it comforting to watch.

Having said that...I hung on to GMA for a long time because the comfort formed a habit...until Joan Lunden finally left and then like Tarzan catching another vine, I moved to Fox and Friends. Then, Fox and Friends expelled their one conservative...

I know I’m rambling, but I’m not sure how to say this. It’s hard to give up a show you have trusted...to understand that, well, you had nothing to trust after all..

But, she constantly asks me who can she trust. She tells me she knows they lie. I tel her to turn off the TV but...

It funny because she grew up in Germany during the war, her brother a member of the Hitler youth. She retell stories of the Gestapo in Weisbaden and how everyone was keenly aware of the government.

She knows they lie but she continues to listhe to them. I just leave her alone.
