From Google: "Gabapentin is used with other medications to prevent and control seizures. It is also used to relieve nerve pain following shingles (a painful rash due to herpes zoster infection) in adults. Gabapentin is known as an anticonvulsant or antiepileptic drug."
It is strange that since it is to prevent seizures that it would have caused one. My doctor gave it to me recently when I went in with a severe arm/shoulder pain. She said to take it at night as it causes drowsiness. It sure did. It would knock me right out. It appears to be one of those drugs that the doctors are giving for any kind of nerve pain now. My daughter, son, good friend when they were diagnosed with neuropathy were put on it. Other then sleeping I had no problem with it.
How is P doing today? I will keep praying for him.
Neurologist was in tried MRI today. Gave up after three tries. He doesn’t know where he is. Thinks the year is 1774 and did not recognize his Sis or I. Can’t feed himself or hold a pencil.
EEG tomorrow.
Lots of mumbling. And agrivation.
Appreciate all prayers.
It does create different adverse effects in different people.
In my case as said, I blew up like a puffer fish!
My eyes were so swollen I could hardly see.
I now take Lyrica, which is expensive but works well.
I have Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, and it is used to try and calm down pain signals that are sent by the brain for no apparent reason.
