The racial component makes it untouchable by conservatives who try to clarify the record - reporters will say "If you believe Trump is innocent then you are a racist if you question Smollett's innocence!" while the brainwashed viewers will be thinking "Smollett actually is guilty so Trump must be too, the process is simply flawed".

No matter what happened with Trump, he was going to get off. They may have pushed the event up to this particular day as an F-U to conservatives, but it was going to happen. The day he was arrested I told someone he’d never be convicted on anything more than a misdemeanor. The felonies were never going to happen. It was clear that once the case got out of the police’s hands and into the hands of elected officials in that state, it was going to be sh*tcanned one way or another. The fact that it wasn’t done with a plea agreement though, is a clear political statement in the culture war to signal this prosecutor is “on the side” of “minorities.”
