Yes! I have a ton of Clancy books. I hated the movie they made form Sum Of All Fears.

Debt Of Honor really was prophetic. Clancy had contacts with our military and it is scary when you think about what he wrote in 1994 and what we witnessed in 2001. It’s like they knew it was being planned.

Hollywood has a great penchant for screwing things up. I’ve read a ton of Clancy’s stuff, and love it all. Particularly am quite partial to Jack Ryan’s SEAL buddy, his “fixer” Mr. Clark. When Clark shows up in the story you know the bad guys are about to get their collective asses kicked...sometimes in quite imaginable ways. Clancy had developed the Clark character to being Ryan’s “dark side”, and without Clancy having clearly stating so, I pictured Clark to be a big man...like 6’-4 and 225#. One of Clancy’s books is strictly about Clark, and he’s listed in text as being just about the size I had imagined.

So in the movie version of “Clear and Present Danger” Willem Dafoe was picked to play the role of Mr. Clark. man that hacked me off, and I still get bent these many years over it. I often wondered what Clancy thought of that decision.

Then there’s the ultimate WTF role pick: Tom Cruise playing the Jack Reacher character who in the books is described as 6’-5 and 245#. Geez. (I think Cruise owns the vid production rights to the Reacher character so Cruise can do what he wants to I reckon.)

Brian Dennehy should be Mr. Clark. Bo Svenson should have been Reacher...when they were younger.
