Sorry if I am late to your party but when Trump offered to make deals with GB after they Brexit I thought he was encouraging them to take the plunge. He also said he wanted deals with EU but kind of an after thought.
I’ll admit I’m mostly clueless on international politics, but that was my take on it, too.
To me, it looks like the patriots of GB want out, but their corrupt DS politicians are doing everything they can to sabotage the exit. I agree that POTUS was encouraging them. At the very least, I suspect he was making it difficult for the UK DS politicians to claim that they were balking because it was financially impossible or ruinous.
