Carson was political, especially in the latter years of the Tonight Show. But it wasn’t in your face.

Classic Carson joke:

Johnny: Boy, it was cold outside this morning...

Ed: How cold was it?

Johnny: It was so cold, I saw a Democrat with his hands in his own pockets.

Might have been a jokewriter. Do these shows even employ jokewriters anymore?

Johnny Carson was the best. The guests were great and even the guest hosts were great like Joan Rivers. That America is no more.

Carson was the master of late night talk shows. He could find comedy in any politician and make people laugh. Today’s hosts are just nasty, vile and ugly about their political “humor”.
