Former NBC "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno said Tuesday that he doesn't miss hosting a late-night show and lamented that everyone has to know your politics now during an interview with NBC's Al Roker.
"Do you miss being on the show, or is it such a different time that it would be hard to do?" "Today Show" host Roker asked Leno.
"No, its different. I dont miss it. You know, everything now is, if people dont like your politics, they everyone has to know your politics," Leno replied.
"I kind of used Johnnys model. People couldnt figure out.

Staying up and watching the Leno monologue and perhaps his first guest was a routine in our house. We gave the new guys a chance, but they are crap. The extra half hour of sleep is nice and we won’t be going back.
Yet he outclassed today's crop of "comedians" night after night - for decades.

I have insomnia, so unfortunately that’s usually not an option for me. But ‘Perry Mason’ reruns start at the same time as those talk shows. So it’s all good!
Believe or not, our country is really a “Center Right” political nation by a large majority of our people. The current Democrat Party is killing itself off with each passing day.
When it appears that “Old” Joe Biden is the best the Democrats can gin up to run for POTUS in 2020, it is clearly evident that there is no active, positive agenda, leadership in Nancy Pelosi or, that deadbeat..hiding in the closet....Chuck Schumer.
Our country has changed massively over the past twenty years. Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, etc. have intermarried by the hundreds of thousands and identity politics is quickly becoming a zero net game road to go down on.
Want to check this theory out...just go to any supermarket, fast food restaurant, taco joint, Dairy Queen, Carvel, flea market and see the true face of the American people. And....ya know what, we treat each other pretty darn well, judging folks by the content of their character, not the color of their skin or their religion. Democrats are living in a evil, ugly, dream world delivered to them by Satan, the Devil, himself!!!
Well, Jay, how about "the president is a rapist?"
Leno showed a picture of an elephant getting hosed and made a joke about Linda Tripp, a victim of the clinton trash machine when she simply told the truth.
Jacka$$ jay could be a 1st class a$$hole, too.
Jay was actually a pretty good interviewer. He asked everyman questions and let the guest answer. I always guessed he was socially liberal, economically conservative and staunchly pro American. Fallon on the other hand is rabidly anti Trump, is obviously liberal in his politics though not as mean spirited as the other two Colbert and Kimmel, and is rather childish with his guests and interviews. His show reminds me of a HS media class project.
Yeah, Leno was no Johnny Carson. Carson poked fun at both political parties, and he did so gently. Leno was less even-handed in that regard.
Still, Leno is a giant compared to today’s hosts.
I haven’t watched late night TV since Jay Left. I watched his show every night.
“Johnny Carson will never be replaced.”
That’s because America itself, from the years he was in that seat, will never be replaced.
Leno takes not so subtle shots at POTUS in every article like this I read. I’m done with him.
The Conan O’Brien show is failing on TBS. He cut the show from 1 hour to 30 minutes this year. He cannot fill 30 mins. Add in commercials and it is 20 mins or less.
Late night is no longer funny as much as it is mean. Even the libs don’t watch it to laugh, they watch it to get their fix of meanness and hate. Insult half your potential audience and you will fail.
We watch the 11 o'clock news. The late night shows come on at 23.35. At 23.34 we switch to one of the non late night show channels so Xfinity does not show that we watch (support) any of the three late night shows
Yeah, I know it's a very small thing. But I also don't find any of the three stooge's comedy funny.
