If it was just New York I wouldn’t care but my late in laws were teachers in a Virginia suburb and they both said the kids were getting more aggressive every year.

... which is why almost any good teacher moves out to the suburbs or teaches private schools. No reason to stay in inner city school districts that are thankless and are filled with unmotivated students. Then we get to hear about how inner city kids are prisoners of a union-led system that refuses to allow vouchers.

I’d venture this is not just limited to NYC inner city schools.

They are getting culturally enriched. Why do they hate diversity so much?

I predict classrooms will be replace by online classes.

I quit teaching a few years ago due to students being out of control, mouthing off and fighting. Students’ attitudes seemed to change overnight that last year. I was a long-term sub but was still paid minimum wage. I didn’t mind the lousy pay when teaching was fun but not with all the bs. Not the least bit surprised the pay now has doubled.

Waddaya talkin’ about?

Doncha know that ALL FReepers know EVERYTHING there is to know about NYC? They’ve all seen Sienfeld, Law & Order, Friends etc. Some have even spent up to a whole week vacationing in Manhattan.

In the meanwhile, after 57 years I left NYC 17 years ago. I now live in the fly-over state that went 68% for Trump, and guess what?!?! My asswipe Republican congresscritter, Alex Mooney(R) WV2, voted FOR that monsterous pro- islamic bill yesterday evening.

This just proves that ALL scumbag politicians are the same. It doesn’t matter what brand they wear, where they are from or what state they may be representing at the present time.
It’s just a damned shame that more FReepers don’t get this.

So God is punishing who? The students by getting no education?

The teachers by having ferals for students?

New York for having a communist mayor?

Do you really think a universal God would get so granular?

Amen!

I CANT BELIEVE so many Rs voted for what was essentially a big slap in the face to Jews.

I’m of Italian descent and my Jewish friends are angry but it doesn’t help us because they vote R already anyway.

But like you said, there’s sometimes not much difference!!

FUNNY post by the way :)

Watched Seinfeld and Law and Order lol

We have no idea why there are so many Yankees here. I mean, yankees claim the south is inbred yet they like to sodomize each other.

A major Part of it is that we aren’t allowed to discipline students.

And the home environment is a big THE factor...

You’re probably correct with that prediction.
On Line classes would be the easiest, and most inexpensive temporary fix. I really enjoyed many parts of my school life. It helped to socialize me, and understand other people to a great degree.

What a shame if future generations don’t also get that chance to have a childhood that was wrapped around studying and passing classes. I still recall some fun times and friendships. I know many home schooled kids do this already, but not all parents have the education or patience to teach. Not all are organized enough to provide peer group time. Maybe Teachers can specialize in visiting homes to teach private groups.
Returning us to the One Room Schoolhouse set up.

I didn’t say God was punishing anyone. Nor did I allude to it.

Try to keep your prejudices at bay please.

However, by rejecting the Most High, you also don’t have the benefit of God’s wisdom and the modifying influence of the Holy Ghost.

The result is what we see here.

Not all NYC educators are liberals. There are plenty of conservative teachers, and they are particularly targeted by libtard administrators.

It’s hard to be sympathetic to people who do this to themselves and then whine about it hoping that we will fix it.

Please do not confuse rank-and-file school teachers with their ideological state departments of education administrators, or with the ideological politicians who stifle the teachers with bad laws and the enabling of bad regulations.

It ain't (by and large) the teachers.

Too much carrot and no stick.

About 4 years after I moved here, a friend from NYC and I were at a BBQ at a neighbor’s house. In the course of conversation, the wife addressed us saying, “You two though, you’re not like NYers.”
I replied with a smile, “Really? How many NYers do you know?”
Understand, this woman is a dear friend and did not take offense to my retort, but it did bring her up short. She realized that she actually had no idea whatever of what NYers are or are like. All she had to go by was what someone else, equally as ignorent of NYers, or what Hollywood had portrayed NYers to be.
Prolly the thing that most gives NYers a bad name is that every miscreant from East Armpit USA who pays a month”s rent there goes around calling themselves “New Yorkers.”

Oh yeah, let’s not forget the media. Always remember that it was 37 (38?) NYers that watched from their apartments as a young woman was raped and murdered and did NOTHING! /s

Great post.

And yeah that Kitty Genovese story was incredibly overblown for headlines and the eventual movie.

Horrible what happened to her. But the number of people who heard it and did nothing climbs each decade.

And YES, I worked in graphics at an investment bank in Manhattan for 20 years and almost NO ONE was from NY!

The state, not just the city!

The NYC Public School system is massive. It has some of the best and some of the worse schools in the country. My child went to one of the best (by merit) and excelled through undergrad and grad school. They went on to become a high school teacher in a heavily imagrant neighborhood. They have has few if any of these issues. I don’t doubt that ein has had the issues he claims but it is his personal experience.
