My Momma used to read these magazines in the 1950’s (True Confessions and others). I read them, too, and they always had stories about girls getting pregnant and the hard life they had. I made up my mind early on that was NOT going to happen to me. True Confessions was good birth control - helped me make some wise choices.
That was back when what we might call today ‘cohabiting,’ the increasingly common practice of living together without marriage, was called ‘shacking up,’ and only low lifes did that.
Me too. Mom used to hate me reading those. She had them in the beauty shop. I would have read almost anything else, but she didn’t have other stuff. LOL
