Army vet to be buried alone Wednesday public urged to attend
A U.S. veteran with no known family has passed away, and his community is asking for the public to attend his funeral so he wont be buried alone.
U.S. Army Spc. Hugh Gary Bryan passed away recently and authorities did not discover any next of kin to notify, so he has been declared an Unaccompanied Veteran with no one expected to attend his funeral, according to the Texas General Land Office.
Services for Bryan will be held Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 11:00 a.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
Any Texas FReeQs close enough to make it?
TXnMA
Reminds me of when a son returned from Desert Storm. We overheard a stupid reporter in the crowd ask a black soldier standing alone if it made him feel bad that he had no family there to greet him. He quickly replied “these are all my family” pointing to the crowd. Needless to say he was quickly surrounded by love from those nearby.
Not in TX, but would attend, if possible.
If you learn more about the attendance, please share!
Spc Bryan, thank you for your service and RIP, patriot.
Sorry generally...I’m in Nevada
Re: Military Vet Burial in Texas
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the second one in a month to which I have been unable to go.
Ted Cruz tweeted about the one in January and there was a follow up story that showed a line of vehicles at the burial site that was endless.
Such support makes me weepy.
Had I known sooner, I could have gone. Just 3 hours away.
Where did you see the story please.
