Empire star Jussie Smollett has furiously denied paying two Nigerian brothers $3,500 to attack him and says he is 'angered and devastated' after investigators in Chicago claimed he orchestrated his own assault.
Smollett’s attorneys, Todd S. Pugh and Victor P. Henderson, told Entertainment Weekly: 'As a victim of a hate crime who has cooperated with the police investigation, Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with.
'He has now been further victimized by claims attributed to these alleged perpetrators that Jussie played a role in his own attack. Nothing is further from the truth and anyone claiming otherwise is lying.'
THE FULL STATEMENT FROM JUSSIE SMOLLETT’S ATTORNEYS Lawyers Todd S. Pugh and Victor P. Henderson issued the following statement on Jussie's behalf on Saturday night: 'As a victim of a hate crime who has cooperated with the police investigation, Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with. He has now been further victimized by claims attributed to these alleged perpetrators that Jussie played a role in his own attack. Nothing is further from the truth and anyone claiming otherwise is lying.
'One of these purported suspects was Jussie’s personal trainer who he hired to ready him physically for a music video. It is impossible to believe that this person could have played a role in the crime against Jussie or would falsely claim Jussie’s complicity.
'Jussie and his attorneys anticipate being further updated by the Chicago Police Department on the status of the investigation and will continue to cooperate. At the present time, Jussie and his attorneys have no inclination to respond to “unnamed” sources inside of the investigation, but will continue discussions through official channels

This comment was my personal supposition. But leftists lie and and cheat and, well, are kind of stupid as well. This is why they are leftists.
If this guy redacted his phone records, meaning he was dumb enough to coordinate with the nigerians on the phone number registered to his name with a national carrier, then he is also dumb enough to make a single withdrawal of the exact amount of money to pay these guys. The $7,000 number assumes $3,500 paid to each of them, not $3,500 in total.

Hard to say, but Chicago PD only resolved one homicide case in six.

The funny thing about that is that the police finally got the phone records and compared them to Smollett’s redacted version. They pounced on the redacted items first.
One detective said Smollett had done their work for them.

Yep. the first instance of using politicians past words against them was the short lived Rush Limbaugh TV show. It is common practice now, thanks to the internet.
