This sort of reminds me of the scene in "Goodfellas" where Tommy (Joe Pesci) runs into Billy Batts in a bar. Billy alternates between being pleasant and conciliatory and being abusive, telling Tommy to go get his shinebox. Back and forth, back forth. "Hey, what's the problem Tommy? I'm just breakin' your balls. Don't get so upset. Jeez!"
In the end, this doesn't go well for Billy Batts.
