I think the quick uptick in states' abortion laws stems from a fear of the next Supreme Court justice to be appointed. The left has a pathological fear of Roe v. Wade being overturned.

The abortion question is the left's first question to be asked when a potential nominee is named.

So, they are driving the abortion fight to the states. And then we'll have a fight over state laws v. federal laws, like with marijuana.

I can agree somewhat but BOTH sides know that the SCOTUS can’t “overturn” RvW. They can only vacate and send it back to the states (10th A).

So, the question remains, why the extremism NOW when it can be better played out (”protected”) in the States?
