Fort Collins, Colo. -- A man is recovering after he fought off and killed a mountain lion that attacked him during a trail run in northern Colorado... the man was running alone when he was attacked from behind Monday afternoon at Horsetooth Mountain Open Space, a mountain park some 66 miles northwest of Denver, near Fort Collins.
The runner, whose name has not been released, fought off the cougar, hiked out of the area and drove himself to a hospital.
He suffered facial cuts, wrist injuries and puncture wounds to his arms, legs and back. The bites were severe...
Wildlife officers searching the trail found the juvenile mountain lion's body near several of the runner's possessions. It will be taken to a lab for a necropsy...
Authorities didn't immediately say how the runner killed the animal.
...
Since 1990, there have been 16 wounds as a result of mountain lion attacks, and three fatalities in Colorado, CBS Denver adds. The last such attack in the state was reported in June 2016.

Another illicit catnip deal gone wrong.
Dont they know its legal in Colorado now?
Mountain Lion had the munchies.
Cougars are known to scratch and bite...;)
It’s Colorado where they put animals first.
Do you reside in one of those “hinder parts” of Colorado?
Alas, I have only visited...
Didnt say how he killed him.....guess cat got his tongue.
After additional investigation, including examination of the lion, we have confirmed the victims account that he was able to suffocate the animal while defending himself from attack, according to a Colorado Parks and Wildlife tweet Tuesday morning.
Always go jogging with someone who is a slower runner than you are.
A kitten? Or a teenage mutant ninja lion?
I would guess he choked it to death. How else really can you kill it unless you have a knife or a gun? It wouldn’t be that hard to grab the throat and hold in but gonna have a whole bunch of stitches until the cat has passed.
Hat’s off to that dude...
There was an article yesterday or so about state euthanizing four mountain lions in Glenwood Springs area.
Hat’s off to that dude...
I wouldn’t find Horsetooth too remote; sitting on the outskirts of Fort Collins. Lots of people in that area. More likely our dry, warm Front Range winter drawing them closer.
Wildlife officers recently euthanized five mountain lions, who were stalking humans, in a West Glenwood Springs neighborhood.
SSS.....carry and keep your head on a swivel.
BTW...Africanized bees, packed up coy-dogs, illegal dope field with illegals, methead lab in the woods, and friggin rattlesnakes that don't rattle scare me ALOT more.

Yes and two human fatalities by mountain lions occurred in Oregon and Washington in 2018.
Young males can travel 30 miles a day. We occasionally get them in Iowa. I think every one of them is a male.
The bike rider that was recently killed in Washington state ran when the cougar was mauling his fellow rider.
