Do you have any idea or suggestion as to why people seem to like so much action and stimulation these days? Is it bad/good or is it just the way it is?

When that was announced, I Planned my departure time. There was traffic home at that time.

Like many of you, I vowed to stop watching NFL games. That includes my beloved Packers. In the last two years, I have made two exceptions - one for last year’s Super Bowl (because it was in my hometown) and last night (because I was invited to a party that had I not shown would have subjected me to familial scorn).

Besides being a fairly defensive game, it was really not all that exciting. I realized that in the last two years, I hadn’t missed much. The TV commercials were OK. The only one that amused me was the NFL’s 100 year banquet free for all.

I didn’t mind Maroon 5. But I gotta be honest - was it really necessary to have a rap star on the stage in that they were bleeping out swear words? I’m no prude. I swear at least once (or twice or three times, etc) just about every day. Visually, it looked bad for the NFL, an organization that tries hard to portray itself as family-oriented entertainment.

I’m speaking only for myself but next year, I’m going back to NFL-less Sundays.

I didn’t even realize it was Super Bowl Sunday until after the game had started, I’ve just gotten that detached from the whole thing. Easy to do working from home I guess. I did run out for a bite to eat and the game was on the flat screens scattered around the restaurant. Didn’t look like I missed much, and Adam Levine irks the crap out of me so I wouldn’t have watched that anyway.

First of all, in the Patriots’ third consecutive visit to Super Bowl, the match-up in Atlanta on Sunday was the lowest scoring Super Bowl ever, a dubious honor at best.

It’s amazing how little difference there is between the all-time #1 Superbowl (49.0) and this worst-in-ten-years Superbowl (44.9).

The TV commercials were OK.

I liked the Audi commercial, where the guy is being gifted with a super electric vehicle in the future, but it turns out it's something flashing before him as he chokes on a cashew.

More like Sleeper Bowl. Put it on during the day so people can stay awake. It’s just not Prime Time material.

Amazing stat. That's the largest margin by which the Pats have won a Super Bowl. And they didn't even wake up to the 4th quarter.

Could part of the disinterest be that it took a Ref who made a call so bad that one might think he threw the game that's what got the Rams there?

It's forever an asterisked Super Bowl because the Pats played the wrong team, and it showed.

I did not watch the Super Bowl on television yesterday (I don't have cable TV).

1: It was on free over-the-air CBS television. No cable needed, only an antenna, a Television, and a local CBS affiliate.

2: It was streamed free of charge at CBS All Access.

Regardless, you didn't miss much.

Also, the Patriots in all of their SB appearances, have never scored a TD in the first quarter.

The Pats don’t play well unless they’re challenged. Some of the games they lose it’s because they let it stay too close near the end of the game. It took that FG to tie the game to bring out their winning instincts.

Did the Levine guy satisfy the SJW’s?

” Is it bad/good or is it just the way it is?”

I feel it’s technology and special effects, everything is noisy and fast and action-filled.

The blockbuster, well attended movies are NEVER quiet, plot based stories but noisy, action based stories. A movie like “Casablanca” would only be shown at the art houses today.

This seems to have carried over into sports——more goals, more home-runs etc. is a better game for the spectator/viewer.

Where I live, I can't get CBS over the air. Or ABC. Or NBC. Or Fox. (How lucky can I be?) So I utilized one of the free streaming options, on my 27" computer monitor.

Why not one of the pay ones? I sampled some of the pay streams, and lo I saw commercials. When I am the product, why does the product have to pay to watch commercials? Not that I care that much for "live" viewing -- if I like the series, I buy a Blu-Ray of the season when media becomes available.

Makes more time for other things, it does.

Certainly the worst game and worst half-time show ever.

Being a Lions fan for decades, having to watch someone else's team play was just part of being a sports fan in Detroit.

Fortunately now, with the political events over the last few years turning it all(pro sports)into yet another MSM choreographed leftist $h#tshow, tuning it ALL out was soooo easy this year...didn't watch 1 minute(first time in 50+ years)...same goes for pretty much all TV "programming" for that matter...all bolshevik-brain-fornicating-bull$h#t meant to turn(mostly)'yutes into remote-controlled garbage cans.

FreeRepoublic and YouTube(+ ad-blocker)...all the news/information/entertainment I want/need, without all the leftist garbage thrown at me like a poop-pie. When IT turns to crap(and it will)I'll find something else to do with my time.

Higher learning and lower blood pressure...wish I'd done it years before.

...like Creed said, "be a thinker, not a stinker".

I have no interest in the National Felon League. I was a Packer Backer starting in the mid-50s, but I have taken a permanent knee regarding the NFL.
