A Georgia hunter under fire for posting pictures of himself alongside a pair of dead elephants said criticism hes received is unfair he shot the giants in self-defense.
A photo of Mike Jines posing with a rifle, behind two dead elephants, made the rounds on social media, with users branding the partner at an energy manufacturer a despicable Trophy Hunter and saying hed ruthlessly killed helpless juvenile pachyderms.

Why do “we” (whoever that is) need more elephants?
They are an endangered species (and probably more intelligent and evolved than the average human on the planet).
Are you one who will be happy if our population drops to human beings and soy beans?
Here in the burbs of Minneapolis the first two weeks of December is deer hunting season. For the cops and hired guns. They kill them in the middle of the night after setting out corn in the parks. They use a .223 with a silencer. Too many deer causing car accidents and wrecking gardens so they get rid of as many as they can.
If you ask them they say it never happens.
I know this from personal experience. I’ll leave it at that.
Usually I dont back peta looney types but I will in this instance. No need to kill an elephant for sport (it wasnt in self defense. Thats bull)
Game reserves in Africa preserve five times the space of government funded reserves/parks and the hunting license revenue pays to protect species that the Chinese traditional medicine market would otherwise hunt to extinction.
Hunting.
Zimbabwe is swimming in elephants.
You don’t know what you speak
How dare you interject facts here?!?!?!
Not bull. Cows.
Your post is looney.
What have I got wrong in your view?
Facts are racist...or something like that.
1. They are not endangered.
2. Zimbabwe has an excess of elephant to the tune of 30,000.
“I wont go to the unhinged length of threats, but I really dont see the point in hunting elephant.”
How long do you reckon it takes an elephant to completely destroy a village’s entire crop?
“Is the meat good for consumption?”
Yes.
Last I knew both Asian and Africans still endangered. And excess by whose view?
Now that you have been informed you know better than what you last knew.
The only places in Africa where they have healthy elephant herds are those places where they license their hunting. They reinvest the trophy fee (which can run tens of thousands of dollars) in protecting a cash-producing resource. There’s nowhere else where they can afford to hire enough game wardens to protect them so poaching for ivory (international trade for which is long since banned) is rampant.
So either you let rich Americans give selected old bulls a .458 WinMag through the brain pan or the poachers indiscriminately mow them down with a beta-dump from an AK47, in which case everybody loses except the poacher.
Nope. I ain’t goin’ with your claims of 30k “excess” elephants that are still endangered.
And you get your jollies from killing them, I presume.
Okay, but this doesn’t look like an old bull.
