full title: "Bulgaria's Largest Thracian Mound Proves to Be Tower Tomb Like in Petra, Palmyra, Likely of Roman Emperor Philip I the Arab".
Hidden underneath what was supposedly the largest Ancient Thracian burial mound in Bulgaria has turned out to be a pyramid-shaped Roman Era Middle Eastern tower tombs like the ones in Petra and Palmyra. The photo shows only the top of the 3rd century AD b

Always amazed people feel compelled to dig up burial grounds.

It's a pyramid if it self-identifies as a pyramid.
But was it built by aliens? That's the real test.

I'm always amazed anyone thinks that's a problem for the deceased.

It'll be particularly interesting if the Emperor's remains are still in there.

Of course you didnt ask them, did you?
It is rather a respect for the dead *and* the living.
Id prefer no one dig up my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles... or me...
... steal their bones to put on display, along with any service flags, personal items, etc., for others to gawk at, measure, build careers on, take pictures of, or otherwise satisfy their own prurient interests.

One of the primitive beliefs lost after the ancient Egyptian rites died out is that the dead are in their graves.

It's a tower tomb, resemblance to a pyramid is limited to the base being a bit larger than the top. About the closest thing to this look in Egypt is at Meidum, but the author appears to equate Mesopotamian ziggurats with Egyptian pyramids.

“is that the dead are in their graves.”
Souls gone. Physical bones, etc. almost always there.
To: aMorePerfectUnion
Exactly -- they aren't "the dead", they are remains.

A fine line between archaeology and grave robbing.
One has a PhD and student loans.
The other is an entrepreneur - moving assets to a higher and better use.
