If no agreement in three weeks, Trump still has the option to shut down the gov’t again.

“Trump still has the option to shut down the gov’t again.”

That’s the thing - he won’t need to.

This is what all the soy pissers on this board are missing.

If he declares a state of emergency and builds the wall, then why keep government closed at that point?

The failure will be completely on Congress. DJT alleviates the temporary suffering of all those very essential government employees, and gets his wall built after Congress fails to act.

Let’s see who leaves town now. DJT can go anywhere he wants. The only deal that matters is now the deal of record. Nothing left to negotiate.

I think it’s brilliant, but what do I know.

3 will get you 2 that RBG is already in an urn somewhere too. That’s going to happen in this timeframe, and China is on the ropes. Their economy is sinking fast.

I heard Trump, and I found myself focusing on "...they (or we) have agreed to..."

Trump said this multiple times: we have agreed.

I think he did the right thing here to look reasonable, and the "delay" is not that long. Trump will hold the ying-yangs to"we have agreed". If that does not happen then, he'll pull the pin.

Just heard on the squawker that Trump has called the press to return. He wants to say something else...

"And you're all doody-heads!"
