I went and checked and I was wrong....Durbin was Pro Life then changed in 1989.
He didn’t get elected to the Sen. until 1996 taking office in 1997.

So his “enlightenment” didn’t happen because of his run for Senate.

Thanks so much for setting the record straight! 1989 must have been when he got caught in an indiscretion, and the DS got him.

Or alternatively..... 1989 could have been when the DS NEEDED him and exercised leverage from whenever it was gathered.

The whole thing is so sad.
