To build a wall along the United States’ international border with Mexico, President Donald Trump could order the sale of approximately 500,000 to 5 million acres of federal land. The U.S. Government currently claims ownership of about 640 million acres of land — or about 28% of the total land mass of the nation. This could raise the entire $25 billion needed to finance building the wall (not just the next installment we are currently fighting over).
But one must understand that out of 640 million acres there is a vast diversity of terrain. The task is to select only between around 0.08% to 0.78% of that total land. Most federally-owned land is not suitable. But some land would be appropriate for sale to the State government, the County, or the general public. Some Western public land is nothing but empty grassland, just ordinary grazing land. Some public land is indistinguishable from the type of land currently owned and used by private citizens. In some cases, there seems to be no plausible reason for the federal government to be holding the land at all.
Decisions about which public lands within a state to consider as candidates must be nominated by each State government. It cannot be the President deciding, because left-wing interests groups will demagogue the issue. The State must identify which lands are not environmentally sensitive, culturally historic, important for scenic or recreational purposes, or reasonably claimed by Native Americans. Throwing those decisions to the States allows all the stake-holders to debate the choices, minimizing left-wing hysteria.

I'd wager that if our swamp dwelling elected officials have ANY way to place themselves in the vicinity of these funds, there is now considerably less money than there once was.
OMG can you imagine the market value of Camp Pendleton ocean views mass acreage some developer would pay massive amounts of money for that ONE ENTITY!!!

And just how do you know that to be the case? And moving ahead 100 years or more, if that were to have ever been the case, it isn’t now. My wife is from Nevada, and I can tell you that Nevadans are pissed off to no end about the Federal Government’s “ownership” of nearly 90% of their state.
Trump will not do it. Why? He would rather defeat them by convincing. Won't work. America if finished. Never survive another election. We will become a communist nation and the Constitution mights as bell be burned.

The federal government owns OCEAN FRONT real estate all over the country. I can think of places here in NH that are worth millions because of their location in Portsmouth, Rye and New Castle Island.
You know, I think you're onto something big. San Fran Nan always struck me as a woman of the people. She rightly identified the tax cuts as peanuts - proof she cares about the little man.
In addition to the high density, low income housing you recommended.... We need to build a homeless shelter, you know the kind like they have in Seattle where they ask you to please refrain from doing drugs, but you can still dope if you must
The people also need methadone clinic and a free needle exchange
Some midnight basketball courts
Maybe a free legal clinic; preferably one specializing in "migrant rights"
Of course we need to gentrify the area and make sure there are plenty of small businesses......
I'm thinking: check cashing stores, bail bondsmen, used car lots, gentlemen's clubs, tattoo parlors, liquor stores, and pawn shops.
We also need to make sure we're not judgmental, and that San Fran Nan feels right at home - public defecation and urination = a human right.
We have a chance to do something big. It's for the children.

There is enough gold under the large ghost mining town of Bodie, CA to pay off all CA Debt, all liabilities, fund the teachers, fix infrastructure, and have a surplus.....but the dumb-asses won't let anyone mine due to the environmental commies that are in control.
That would bury the president in lawsuits. The executive does not have the power to annul legal proceedings except for pardons and clemency/commutations.
There is plenty of drug money to be funneled to the wall without upending the legal system
I suggested to him , again today , that he use that tact .
I want to see President Trump above and beyond all legal restriction and recourse .
