Mostly, a lot of instability, compatibility issues, and misbegotten or missing features. It doesn't work with a lot of sites, it locks up, etc. It was a rough start, and it's never gotten to the point of being "ready for prime time". Microsoft gave up on it -- that says something right there.
If you want to see what sorts of things users complain about, you can start here: Google search for edge browser problems
Or if you don't want to use Google's search, use another...
I actually use Edge for most of my browsing because I prefer the way that bookmarks are handled. On sites where it does not work properly I use Chrome which generally does have the best compatibility. I will definitely be trying out Edge with the Chrome innards.
thank you.
cripes...sorry, didn’t mean for you to do my homework. I could have done that leg work. But thanks for the link.
I at first decided to not look at things that happened prior to 2018.
I hit a lot of different threads
I found a lot of user errors.
A lot of whacked systems, requiring resets of some form or another to make EDGE work.
I decided to take a look at MS Community - issues from 8/2015-12/19/2018
a lot of commentary but no help...a lot of user errors. Not so many complaint after 2017.
I looked at the dissertation in the article in this thread https://news.softpedia.com/news/microsoft-edge-s-migration-to-chromium-explained-524345.shtml
I have more web sites not render right in Slimjet and I use Edge to see ‘em.
I wonder if it’s about money. Labor intensive to do your own thing vs. using open source.
anyway, thanks again.
