This is sort of good news. A transformer at a power sub-station explodes and power is restored within the hour? I would have thought that replacing a transformer would take a lot longer. They must have re-routed power temporarily.
Either way, it does bode somewhat well should certain types of groups wish to deal a blow to the grid in such a fashion.

It also caused some of the runway lights at LaGuardia airport to go out for 1/2 an hour on one of the busiest travel days of the year.

IF they a replacement transformer on site, and many utilities do order 4x transformers built when they use the other three every hour, it will take two weeks to unhook and remove the burned one, clean up and move and install the replacement, and region it it up. IF - big if there! - there was no damage to the generators and switchgear inside.
