The next pandemic is already here and it’s called Liberalism.
With all the anti-vaccination people out there a pandemic of something becomes more and more likely. Smallpox would be horrible.
There was nothing particular ‘Spanish’ about the flu:
we DON'T need to be around people or eat at restaurants or go to movies...we'd be perfectly happy isolated away from our lovely lovely society....
Open border people hope so....
The best flu vaccine is the flu.
Keep your immune system strong with regular exercise, fresh air and good nutrition.
When a particularly virulent strain comes along, you’ll likely have had something close to it over your lifetime and be as ready as anybody.
Vaccines notwithstanding.
The more I see of society, the better I like staying home with husband and the dog. I do as little socializing as possible. Hate to turn into a hermit, but it has a positive side, also. Even going to church has a downside these days. The bulletin is always asking for prayers for someone who did missionary service in some South American country, as is now stricken with a life threatening or debilitating disease (and these people return to USA and church services in the middle of their treatment!).
The Spanish flu killed so many people because they had a strong immune system. That’s precisely what a cytokine storm is, an immune overreaction.
Gosh, I wonder what part of the European population is less likely to get the vaccine??

It is no longer a threat to the world.
My Grandfather, Thomas Jefferson Walker, was born July 4, 1979. His first wife died as a result of the Spanish Flue in 1918. As a young widower with three boys to raise, he married my Grandmother in 1920.
He was 41. She was 18. Just a few years older than the boys.
I’ve become more and more of a hermit.
Socializing is something I really like to avoid now. I like being left alone with my jalopy vehicle collection, dog, camera equipment, vintage movies & TV, spouse, and that is about it.
After a week of supporting the terminally spoiled, lazy, and sometimes way overpaid, I can’t deal with people much.
Seeing the whackos, slobs, and freaks out in the streets and events in large numbers, it’s too much.
