Hallmarks famed Christmas movies have been known for revisiting the same stable of stars which until recently, hasnt left much room for faces that arent white. But this season, the brand has made an effort for diversity. Its no longer a whitewashed Christmas on Hallmark, though it still has a way to go for a truly inclusive winter wonderland.
That’s where I used to post stories - back when I was writing them.
The only reason i’ve ever watched the Hallmark movie channel is for the Tom Selleck “Jesse Stone” movies. They’re excellent but I’ve seen them all. Wish he’d do more of’em.
Call her up when a few days have passed and ask her if she is better.
Say to her, I worried because your reaction was so extremely hysterical, is something terribly wrong? Did your fiancé. Break up with you? Have you gotten a bad diagnosis?
Works every time. You will never have her darken your door again and she will forever seethe because you got the last word.
Sorry wrong thread
If Hallmark gives in to political correctness, they’ll lose 80% or more of their viewers.
Sounds good. . .and her excuse was she thought she was in the correct house, a house she says she was contracted to clean and live-in during the holidays while the residents were on vacation somewhere. She makes a mistake, goes to the mans house, cleans it and that sets the story going.
Give it a go. . .can’t hurt.
Not sure about the man of the house (probably way older than the 17-yr old). How about man who owns the house has a son, about 20-something, and the man is trying to mend his relationship with his son and the girl turns out to be “the one” to soften the heart of the 20-yr old son and the man.
Just a thought.
What is political correctness? If they have a few movies with Black actors instead of Whites, their audience won't turn them off. Gay stories are more iffy, as interracial relationships can be, but I doubt they're going to start making movies about slavery or the Indian Wars or colonialism. If they push a political line at the expense of romance, audiences will turn them off, but they'd have to be very stupid to do that.
You could turn one of the recent home intruder stories into a Hallmark movie. He’s in her house. She shoots him. They fall in love.
All 4 of my grandparents are from Sicily, so I probably have a higher percentage of African DNA.
“Though to be fair, Hallmark did occasionally cast biracial white-passing actresses like Jessica Szohr, Katrina Law, Alexa PenaVega, or new duchess Meghan Markle as the romantic lead. “
That is SO Racist. My god, do these people even realize how racist they are ?
Indeed!
But now they make a point of letting everyone know it.
I knew the guy kissing the girl at the end was gay because he makes no bones about it.
Ugh
Sorry moochelle, can’t change history and if you want different traditions.......move to another country.
I’d guess LGBT rom-com formulas would play well in Middle America, who hold out hope for an idyllic life for their LBGT family and friends. Christianity proclaims the Law of Love supreme, after all.
I think that Hallmark will make a mistake if they change their successful recipe.
Their market is white women.
a pretty big demographic.
You have define the plots perfectly
I avoid these and books where the heroine is described as “spunky.”
Hallmark is the Harlequin Romance Novel of the television tube.
From the first episode of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" in 1970.
LOU GRANT: You know, you've got spunk. (pause) I hate spunk.
My gosh I forgot that!
MTM was funny and clever.
The spunk did not always work out.
She seemed genuinely at a loss at the antics of her co workers.
And the episode at the funeral of the clown Chuckles

It was some of the sharpest writing on network television. You have to look at “All in the Family” or “The Golden Girls” to come up with something just as sharp.
