Well, this seems to have become an annual event. Alone on Christmas Eve, reaching out to my fellow FReepers.
Myself, I have my daughter's hermit crab for company. And some great classical Christmas music. And, a little later, George Bailey and friends via BluRay.
Anyone else spending this evening solo?
May God bless you, Ciaphas Cain. Your life is not a mistake.
Sounda delicious.
just me and my two dogs...never married don’t have kids. do this every year . tend to be a hermit so this is a situation of my own making....Merry Christmas and to any freeper who has wife and young kids enjoy this time with them and give your wife a hug as you watch the young one’s tear into there gifts this togetherness is what its all about
Those of us who are here will not be alone. Nine of us, three generations.
My son the Marine, though, is spending his first Christmas alone. Thank God he’s not a snowflake.
Yours sounds good too! Thanks.
May I ask from what the pain is originating?
I’m alone too, but I don’t notice it much since I’m usually alone.
I was alone except for one of Steve Allen kids. Long night. But it turned out okay.
may have gone to friend’s house tonight , but still single.
What happened with Alamo Girl?
Two cats and a dog count?
I read a thread like this every year on Free Republic - kinda makes me sad but also makes me feel kinship. It’s just my spouse and me with the two pet cats. Glad we have FR and fellow FReepers. It used to be we would force ourselves to go pay our respects to the Lord in a church. Now I do it myself. Tired of all the fakery and all the commercialism. All the relatives are not pleasant to be around so we avoid them. This year we’re nursing an injured cat who adopted us (a third furball). His grateful purrs kinda say it all. Merry Christmas, FRiends.
I found this at a used bookstore a few months ago. I hadn't seen it since I was a kid. It's a delightful film. Just excellent.
Merry Christmas to you, COP.
Love to all you solos! Lots of cool things to watch on tv. Not alone (but it doesnt sound horrible to be... lol). We are watching the Santa Clause. Never saw it before. Its great.
Better to be alone with a wonderful person (you!) than to be in a situation with an unpleasant person who hurts you or makes you feel bad. May all of you have a healthy, happy new year.
Im glad to see so many FReepers come out of the woodwork to talk about this serious problem... loneliness
Wow, that seems harsh, leaving after 40 years together. Im sorry. Youre doing great stuff and next year will be a lot better!
I would like to know also.
I am — my fifth without my husband and ninth without my daughter and only child. Never thought I would end up alone with no family left (except for cousins) in my sixties. Actually, I don’t mind being alone. It is easier than being a fifth wheel in someone else’s house. I listen to music, read or watch a movie — OR join my FRiends! Thank you all for being there! Merry Christmas everyone!
