I think someone could toss a loop of rope up there and climb up...They need a slat right at the top going horizontal so that can’t happen. (Nothing to hook on to)

Not a slat... more of a partial barrel style... something a grappling hook can’t grab. Oh, yeah... don’t forget to grease the snot out of the vertical portions.

similarly, the top rung of a ladder would bear all the stress--maybe more than it could handle. Do 30 foot ladders currently exist? I haven't seen one. If they solved that problem, they're faced with impaling themselves as they scale the spikes, then they've got a 30 foot fall.

It's beatable, but not by many. It would drop crossers to a trickle.

I don't follow....the lack of any horizontal bars is what makes it impossible to latch on to anything.
