Toblerone, the iconic triangular shaped chocolate bars have been made halal to meet the demands of the Islamic market.
The change, that silently took place in April this year, has now been revealed to Swiss newspaper Blick. Owned by the American food company Mondelez, all Toblerone bars are being produced in the Swiss city of Bern.
A spokeswoman of the company explains to Blick that since April the sweets comply with the Islamic purity law and ingredients and production now meet halal standards.
She says the Toblerones original recipe remained unchanged. She justifies the change with Toblerones status as export product: 97 per cent of the bars are exported to other countries.
Specifically the halal certification means that the production process must be inspected and approved by imams as being in line with Islamic standards
There is non-dairy chocolate. Schmerling is one very tasty brand of non-dairy (’parve’) chocolate.
I consider halal the Muslim version of kosher so I respect it for that reason. This wont change the chocolate or whatever. You guys wouldnt get your panties in a twist over Lindt making chocolate kosher (and I believe they have), so dont fuss over this.
No screaming goats were harmed to make Toblerone.
All my 90%+ dark chocolate is pareve or non-dairy.
Sorry, but I’ll not buy it anymore...
Bismillah, you will not let me go
guaranteed to not be touched by any christian or jew ....
The pigfat use to condition the wrapper though ....
I named my new Dobe boy Herger The Joyous.
/’tis but a small thing
Nice name heh.
My newest dog the bloodhound is a Gunner. Ironically he runs and hides when I’m shooting. He’s only 5 months old though.
Awww.
We always trained dogs [and horses] to the gun by having them outside while shooting so they would understand it was just a noise.
Even my Dobes freak out when someone is shooting outside because they just can’t figure out what’s happening.
Oddly, the sight hounds couldn’t care less about guns or thunder.
It’s been too cold to have him running outside free, but soon, supposed to be mild for a bit.
*Dog coat
:D
Is pork near the process of making chocolate? Otherwise, it’s nothing but a sales gimmick. Religious chocolate... funny!
