After introducing some furriners to the goodness of yellow meated watermelon a few years back I waxed eloquent on the wonders of watermelon colors. Ya see, the innards of the melon are all blue till you cut 'em open. They don't turn red, orange or yellow till you pop it open and the light and air hit.
my kids think i need to stop with my tales. reportedly some of them have damaged the psyche of some of the grandkids :(
Hog wash, I personally still cherish grandpa's tall tales. At the time I did not know they were tall tales. Makes me laugh to think I was ever so gullible, but it makes me smile now.
Reminds me of informing all within earshot of the qualities of the only plaid animal, exclusively found in the Scottish highlands, known as the kilt. It is almost never seen, being quite fast and elusive. Successful hunters are highly regarded for their prowess.

I have a family member who went to the northeast for a convention. He tells the story of how after endless teasing about his thick Texas accent, he shined his new friends on by convincing them that his grandpa had won a prize for raising a 50 pound grit.
