What Bush meant by a thousand points of light was obvious. He was talking about volunteerism, serving our fellow citizens, and such volunteers and acts of service being points of light. Anyone who thinks it had some sinister meaning is an idiot.

That's funny. The reverse is actually the truth. Anyone who doesn't believe it to be sinister is an idiot.

Good people can differ, and this is such a case in point. Personally, I agree with piasa - that Bush spoke of volunteerism, something that Bush practiced. No one is an idiot for having an honest opinion.

“Anyone who thinks it had some sinister meaning is an idiot.” // “Anyone who doesn’t believe it to be sinister is an idiot.”
____________________________________________________________

Well, we got that settled, the world is divided into to two parts and everyone is an idiot.

Since there is no way to avoid being an Idiot, this is only to describe what is probably the source of the quote (in spite of Ms. Noonan’s denial that it is not.)

Article that discusses the source of the Thousand Points of Light reference:

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/the-inspirational-mystery-of-a-thousand-points-of-light/article4083615/

He writes in the “Magicians Nephew”:

“One moment there had been nothing but darkness,” Lewis wrote, “next moment a thousand, thousand points of light leaped out - single stars, constellations, and planets, brighter and bigger than any in our world.”

And from his 1915 Schoolbook;

“In winter when the frosty nights are long …/ Ten thousand, thousand points of light did peep/ Out of the boundless heaven’s velvet deep.”

Now, anticipating objections, here is a link to an article of the opinion that Lewis was in on the Illuminati agenda. You can access the link to see the authors opinion. I will not quote him here.

https://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/sociopolitica/esp_sociopol_illuminati_58.htm

However, based on other Lewis works, I would say there was absolutely no connection —positing that the Illuminati exist—specifically citing “That Hideous Strenght”. The book is a deconstruction and rejection of strange occult scientism which presumably would equate to something like the Illuminati. His satire was directed at and rejected the Strange elitisms of the acedemics around him.)

(I would only note that I have lowered my view of GWB even more in the last few years. And yes, I believe there is a globalist movement to destroy the U.S.)
