LOL. I used to kill everything I tried to grow. Turns out I was too kind and attentive - too much water/etc. Benign neglect works better for most stuff.

After years of having the most glorious blooming night blooming cereus, I gave in to temptation and repotted it. No blooms since. I try to dry it out but it’s just too rich of an environment now. Back when you could see the roots crawling out of the pot, the plant knew that survival meant blooming and seeds. The smell was amazing and it was as advertised. Bloomed in the night for a very few hours and then the scent was completely gone. Breaks my heart. I’m working on willful neglect.
I am not to tend my husbands cactus. I just can t stand to see them thirsty and have killed many in the past. His neglect seems to work well.
