Lovely situation. We can leave it as it is now, with us having an effective 5-3 majority, or she can retire and we can push it up to 6-4.

The democrats are going to say that it is incumbent on the POTUS to nominate another liberal in order to not go against “our norms”.

Which is ridiculous - the president can nominate whoever he wants for a SC opening. There is no formula or desired split that has to be adhered to. A squishy GOP moderate might bow to that pressure, but I don't think Trump will.

...which leaves the deciding vote to Roberts, who already violated his oath to uphold the Constitution with his Obamacare vote.
