He spots a flurry of motion...and calls down to the gatekeepers:
“There!
To the southeast! And to the west!
Our messengers are coming in!
Get ready to open the gate!”

The first messenger arrives, horse lathered with sweat.
The Highlander calls out to him:
“What news from the coast-lands?”
“Our side has turned the tables on the adversary there!”
The messenger hands the dispatches to the Highlander, who, after instructing his deputy to stand watch, brings them into the Qanteen.
He announces:
“News from the coast-lands of the southeast! The tide is turning in our favor!”

“What news do you bring from the arid lands, goodman?”
The messenger replies breathlessly,
“We are still locked in battle, and reinforcements are needed !”
He hands the second message to the Highlander, who glances at it and tells his deputy to stand watch for a little while longer.
Upon reading the full news from the arid zone, he takes off for the Qanteen at a dead run.
“To arms! Those in the arid zone are in need!”

*Mother of Dragons (and Dragonlettes) gets off the phone, drops her darts (nerf, of course) and runs out onto the porch where RitaOK, texokie, and KitJ are bolting out of their Adirondacks.*
* Greeneyes brings the lawn tractor and shuts the motor off, and comes closer to our on-duty guard and the messengers. The “Chopsticks” maestros run out alone with the LexiQon and Oracle staff. Blu and the guys from the Qarage assemble as well. Aquamarine and her fellow Q ballet swimmers grab towels and come running - making a small dripping trail of pool water. texokie is glad they remembered to grab robes as well as towels, ‘cause it’s getting darn chilly out here!*
* ssschev and the Qanteen Qatz stop their games and come running too, with ssschev changing from fun demeanor to a more serious one. Mairdie has heard the commotion and comes in from the greenhouse and tucks away the sack of raccoon feed. texokie cringes as mairdie reaches for the Qloset door knob, but mairidie is amazing, because the feed sack went into the Qanteen Qloset: and nothing shifted. How did she DO that???*
With one voice, all FReeQs are crying out
