Could the number of flights per person be limited? Norway is leading the way (tr)

The number of flights being taken by the average person is increasing dramatically and the arrival of LCCs mean flying is more affordable for more people. Between 2005 and 2018 global passenger numbers more than doubled from around two billion to four billion and forecasts suggest that it could double again over the next 20 years. Is this growth manageable? One Norwegian politician believes that a cap should be placed on travellers, a seemingly impractical suggestion, but one that is sure to have support.

Summary:

As global air travel demand continues to rise, one Norwegian politician recommends a cap of 10 air journeys per year per citizen;

Norway is at the forefront of environmental protection where air travel is concerned and his views have received limited backing;

However, the proposition seems impractical but it will have its supporters, everywhere, not just in Norway.

They will have the support of the globalists who will demand it of everyone else, while they jet around to *climate change* summits to enjoy a nice vacation while pretending to be concerned about our environment.

This is crazy. There are a huge number of people that don't travel by plane at all at one end, and then there are a relatively small number of people that travel incessantly for business.

This one size fits all idea is typical of the stupid nonsense that comes from brains corrupted by socialism.

I guess what they'll finally end up doing is some sort of credit system (like carbon credits) whereby if you go over your yearly allotment, then you have to pay someone else to give up one of their flights. I'm sure the socialists will see this as a great way to redistribute wealth from the 1% who fly regularly to the 99% who fly hardly at all.

Anyone who thinks CO2 is a dangerous pollutant should be limited to two flights per year has had a lobotomy ....

“Co-founder of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines”

Wow, just a socialist crony capitalist who wants government mandated boat travel.

A: Who wants to go to France? The web provides ~ 80% of the value. NetMeetings can get things done way more efficiently.

B: There are likely Ships (though likely way less efficient in time and energy and investment).

C: Best to be self-sufficient. Buy an Ocean row boat and go.

D: Where is the Concorde?

If you have ever flown private aviation, you’d realize it’s the only way to fly...

Especially with the TSA.

“D: Where is the Concorde?”

Abandoned since it was slower than rowing.

Actually, I’m in total agreement with this leftist lunatic. Norwegians should be limited to 10 flights per year. The rest of us will fly as much as we like.

There are only two things I can’t stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people’s cultures... and the Norwegians.

“If you have ever flown private aviation, you’d realize it’s the only way to fly...”

What is the cost of a private flight from SF to japan?

The only solution of socialists is rationing of everything, not only public goods like water but of market goods like air travel. Don’t socialists realize they are parasites and the less activity in the market, the less to feed off of?

Yep, all the advantages they have, leaving them able to function under their socialist, one world principals come from oil. If they weren’t abject hypocrites they would close down their oil pumps.

It may be oil guilt in the face of their fear and religious like belief in global warming that drives their irrational actions. They need to shut down their oil pumps and get absolution and closure from the burden of all that guilt. Let’s see them write that into law.

Except for the elites. They will be able to obtain indulgences from the church of climate change.

If your Co. is paying, who cares? It’s tax deductible.

What would be the point of going to Japan otherwise?

I agree.

But if the movement is to limit flights

First limit general.

This is the sort of conversation that should be encouraged. The global climate change mafia have tried to sell the narrative that all that the things that must be done to solve the ‘crisis’ are all very painless.

I’ve seen studies that say you would have to limit flights to the point where a flight becomes a one in a lifetime adventure. Just wait until the snowflakes find out they will be limited to one charge a month for their cell phones.

"Anyone who thinks CO2 is a dangerous pollutant should be limited to two flights per year. On any conveyance, no private plane exemption."

Oh, and exhaling will be limited to every third breath.

This would apply to productive people who travel as part of their job.

This is stupid. It would penalize productivity.
