I think we sometimes see what we want to see. I was convinced that the Republicans would keep the House. I thought there was great turnout, strong economy, etc. But I (and many people here on FR) were wrong.
I’m glad President Trump still has the Senate. This is good for his judicial nominations.
I try to be objective about these things. I didn’t post much about it on FR but I figured there was a slim chance at best that the GOP would keep the House. I wasn’t even thinking about the historical trend in midterm elections, but the 40+ Republicans who were vacating their seats. It is so much harder to defend an open seat than an incumbent, and the math simply didn’t work in the GOP’s favor this year.
