Grier was flagged for Unsportsmanlike Conduct, but that was for something he did after entering the end zone. I’m not certain what it was he did; I thought he might have thrown the ball down—like a spike—or threw it into the stands.
An act of unsportsmanlike conduct that happens after the score can not negate the play. UC after the play can only be assessed on the next play, which it was on the ensuing kickoff to Texas. They did not flag Grier for taunting or reaching the ball forward before he scored; they flagged him for whatever he did in celebration AFTER he crossed the goal line.
I am aware of that and it reinforces my point. He did and upside down hook em in the back of the end zone. A WV player was flagged for that earlier.
