FBS Schedule ^ | 11-4-2018 | Brian Wilmer

Posted on 11/04/2018 1:42:15 PM PST by blam

College football rankings for week 11 have been released. Alabama remains the top-ranked team, while West Virginia, Syracuse, and Boston College made significant leaps in the polls.

Washington, which clipped Stanford, 27-23, moved into the AP Poll at No. 20.

Syracuse, who defeated Wake Forest, 41-24, surged nine spots to No. 13, due to a combination of their win and losses from other ranked teams. Boston College vaulted seven spots to No. 17 on the strength of a 31-21 victory at Virginia Tech. The Orange and Eagles both made 11-point leaps in the Coaches Poll.

NC State, Iowa State, Michigan State, and Cincinnati all moved into the AP Poll.

Teams that dropped out of the AP Poll include Utah, Houston, Iowa, Virginia, and Texas A&M.

The FCS Coaches Poll will be released on Monday.

“Anyone else tired of Norte Dame being ranked 3 playing no one?”

Anyone else tired of Clemson being ranked 2 playing no one?

"My daughter-in-law in Mobile was asking my nearly-3-year-old grandson about animal sounds. When she got to asking what the elephant says, he replied,”Roll tide!”"

I really like this and probably post it to often.

“I don’t see anyone beating Alabama.”

Neither do I.

If they win the rest of their games, they will win the National Championship.

If UCF wins out, it still needs help.

Clemson has to run up the score on very weak ACC teams that are much more interested in basketball than football. It’s either that or drop out of the top 4. Clemson belongs in the SEC,where they would have to play real football teams each weekend. If SC is in the ACC put Clemson there. But that’ll never happen as long as Sweeney remains coach. His easy sailing to the BCS would be over.

I can remember when Nebraska was consistently a top team and for a few years was close to what Alabama is now.

One year in the mid to early 80’s I was living in Kansas which was real Big 8 country. I gave another guy in our office even odds that Florida State would beat them in Lincoln.

He was shocked when FSU won as was just about everyone else. I just smiled and took my dollar.

“If they win the rest of their games, they will win the National Championship.”

So, basically, every team controls their own destiny. Unless, of course, their poor management of their previous destiny puts them under control of someone else’s destiny. Or something.

“How would you phrase it?”

I would simply say that if they win however many games necessary they will accomplish whatever. But there’s no rhetorical catchphrase in that.

My Troy Trojans upset some team just about every year. Unfortunately they almost always follow that by getting beat by an inferior team.
