Heck, even “Satisfaction” ‘s intro! Amazing!
Lots of good Rock intros though. We didn’t have long attention spans LOL!

"Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding"
You win the lead-in intro to RnR song Golden Statue. Look in your mail for a Golden Guitar about 8 inches. Don't think there has ever been a better intro. It goes on and on and then changes key to ease into the song. Perfect! I would say "Stairway To Heaven" after that.
Still love the haunting melody of Gimme Shelter intro because I'm more rock than pop.

For the overall arrangement, including the intro, I rate the Stones “The Spider and the Fly” near the top even though it was only an album song in the US. The guitars, bass, and harmonica are all perfectly done.

Yup, sweet lead notes in and smooth change to chords before lyrics.

My favorite Chuck Berry solos were the two in “No Particular Place To Go.” There was one solo in the middle, and another at the end.

"The Housing of the Rising Sun"
I can still play that. It starts with an A-minor. Used to do the upbeat Vanilla Fudge version in our enlisted club in Rota, Spain. They loved it.

By a very small margin, for me, “July Morning”, by Uriah Heep, because it musically expresses so well an innermost individualism, sometimes in solitude, and sometimes with the world crashing about oneself.
After that, OMG, too many for me to list, although some have already been mentioned upthread. :-)

That's one of those intros that you can't help tapping your foot to.

I also like the Intro to Sweet Jane on Lou Reed’s Rock and Roll Animal.
Tasty.

This has to be a nominee on anyone’s list: Zappa, Pojama People.

The guitar solo in the bridge is also mind blowing and is a candidate for best guitar solo ever.
His sarcastic lyrics might not be to everyone’s tastes, but if you can get through that the rest is more than worth it.

Agreed, but very simplistic. You always know who that band is.
