I often note chosen does not mean better.
Indeed, the Talmud teaches that we were the least of Athens peoples on the Earth. Small tribe. Insignificant. Enslaved.
We were chosen to demonstrate His power and charity.
Nothin more. Nothing to brag about.
I have to question before the inevitable locking of this thread, with all of the discussions about that that are on the internet and the full reasons discussed ad nauseum elsewhere, why would you bring that question here?
Excellent post!
This doesn't make sense. Jews renounced and continue to renounce Jesus. I'd have thought by now satan would have turned his wrath toward those spreading His word ... the Christians.
Well written!
!!!LoL! Love it!
Not sure how quick correct turned of the to Athens
That’s the definition of Grace.
Sure ... but here's why the Romans did this:
The Jewish people captured Jesus and turned Him over to the Romans.
Given a chance by the Romans to rectify this ... for this Man has done nothing... the Jewish people chose Barabbas.
Up until I think the 19th century, Christians could not charge interest (usury) so they borrowed money from Jews. Often in the Middle Ages when the nobles couldnt pay back their loans they ginned up hatred and caused pogroms. Jews were different and therefore scary. I dont know why Muslims hate Jews.
the Jewish people chose Barabbas. some of the priestly class stirred up a riot.
Wasn’t that all fulfilled by Jesus and the New Testament?
Or is Jesus just some bum with an attitude?
Yes ... they were chosen for a specific mission; bring forth the Savior. Mission accomplished.
In my heart I cannot see the Lord holding today's Jewish Israeli with more esteem than the man waiting on the outskirts of civilization to be beheaded for refusing to deny Christ.
Was the priestly class Jewish?
Hate is not rational.
It doesn’t make sense and I don’t expect it to make sense.
Exactly.......
I don’t understand the point you’re trying to make. Want to try again? Thanks.
Exactly! The hatred has to do with satan’s jealousy of God’s son.
That’s still a case of painting with a broad brush. Not all of Israel sided with the greedy, self preserving priests.
The early Christian’s were Jews. Remember, there were 120 in the gathering when the Holy Spirit rested upon them.
Why were they gathered that day? They were celebrating the giving of the Torah....pentecost.
Have you ever studied the comparison between the giving of the “word” at Sinai, and the giving of the word, Jesus, and the giving of the Holy Spirit which is the spirit of Truth who is a witness of the “Word”?
Pontius Pilate ordered Jesus to be crucified. He wasn’t Jewish (see John 18.35). The Romans killed Jesus.
