Did you hear the one about the guy on safari, who when travelling through the jungle hears some fierce drumming coming from a distance?
The explorer exclaims, “Wow! Those drums! Are they angry?”
“No! Drums good — when drums stop, big trouble!”, replies the guide.
For 3 days and nights they hike, and the drumming never stops.
The explorer asks, “How long can this go on? I need a break, I can’t get any rest!”
Just then the drumming stops. The explorer says, “finally, I can hear myself think.”
“OHHHH NO!”, screams the guide.
“what happens now?”, asks the explorer.
“Bass solo!!!”

It’s the percussive slap in funk. Cows don’t have a lot of funk... you don’t hear, “Get the Mooos out!” Funky people like super-fly and burning down the house. Cows don’t like flies of any sort and having their barns burnt down. And they don’t like Flea as a bass player cause the tattoos makes them think of branding and the name Flea bring back memories of nests of fleas in their ear. So that about explains it. The pop and slap are annoying too but I won’t explain just yet.

For Christmas, little Johnny's parents get him a bass and some lessons so he can learn to play.
Johnny comes home from the first lesson. Mom asks, "what did you learn in your first lesson, Johnny?"
"I learned the first four notes on the E string."
"That's great, Johnny, keep up the good work!"
Johnny comes home from the second lesson. Mom asks, "what did you learn in your second lesson, Johnny?"
"I learned the first four notes on the A string."
"That's great, Johnny, keep up the good work!"
Around the time of the third lesson, Mom asks, "what did you learn in your third lesson, Johnny?"
"Oh, I blew it off, I had a gig."
