Lifeforce, the movie, now on Prime (and it appears to be buffed up)

Posted on 10/28/2018 3:15:27 PM PDT by RoosterRedux

For any of you fans who are Amazon Prime members, Lifeforce is now free...and it appears to have been gussied up a little bit.

This was always an old sci-fi favorite of mine and "it's baaaack."

Here's a link to the trailer at youtube...Lifeforce

Ah, I remember “Lifeforce,” and the book it was adapted from: “The Space Vampires.”

Curious. The book was about the discovery and study and use of the ‘lifeforce’, and energy generated and exchanged by human beings. The scientific study of the lifeforce becomes essential when space exploration turns up the titular space vampires, a branch of the human race which does not generate its own lifeforce, but is parasitic on the humans who do.

The movie, in spite of the title, leaves out almost all of the speculative fiction about the lifeforce and lifeforce research, and leaves only the part about the parasitic vampires from outer space. So, of course, they changed the title from “The Space Vampires” to “Lifeforce.” Go figure.

Well, maybe they “buffed it up”. Still, it was one of the worst Sci-Fi movies I ever saw. I remember leaving their theater (in 1985?) feeling simultaneously bewildered and ripped off.

But here you are...whining about something others find interesting.

Must be really nice to piss on others.

If it isn't something you don't understand but others do...show some respect for the insight of others.

And quit wetting yourself and telling us about it.

And it has been phenomenally and beautifully restored.

Lighten up Frances.

I don’t see how my post disrespected anyone. Just expressing my opinion — which is what we do on FR. Must have somehow missed the rule that only GOOD opinions of “Lifeforce” were allowed on this thread. [/s]

I saw that and seemed to remember it being a “respected” movie, though I never saw it. I’m headed to the tv right now.

Bye...

Mathilda May made a habit of losing her clothes on film. One of the ...make that two of the reasons she's one of my favorite actresses.

And, actually, if anyone’s post is disrespectful, its yours.

Maybe I somehow hurt your feelings because “Lifeforce” is one of your favorite SciFi flicks. Personally, I thought it sucked. But if that’s all it takes to hurt your feelings, then I suggest you man up or go post somewhere else.

I now remember that movie. I found it rather bizarre the first time I saw it many years ago. Doubt if I would want to see it again.

Wipe up your panties, dude. Sorry that you are such a pussy hat.

All that said, why don't you whine on another thread.

It's okay if you don't like this one...but just go find one you do like.

And quit your bitchin.

Cheeze...get this guy a pink hat.

I recently saw this, although probably not restored, along with Videodrome. I feel like despite all the computer fx nowdays movies were allowed to be much weirder back then. How about Patrick Stewart in Lifeforce, ha.

Sorry, Frances, but you’re the pussy-hat wearer here.
I don’t go all to pieces if someone doesn’t like my favorite crappy flick.

What's the run time on it?

As I remember, there are at least two cuts, differing by at least 15 minutes.
